blue, since there were no 400s installed in 68 there no headers available for a 400 in a 68. The 400 was offered in 77-79, so finding a set that you can use for those years should work fine.
Sorry, I can't help you further, I have never run a M engine.
I recently saw a 400 in a 66 with headers, and as my prior suggests they were used in the later 70s trucks. The engine bays are almost identical from 65 to 79, so headers should fit.
My first thought is that the engine is not on the right perches since it is a retro fit, or you don't have the headers that you think that you do.
Where are you located, there could be a reader close by that might drop by and give you a hand with your problem.
The correct headers should fit on the 400 in a truck correctly fitted. IMHO
I have not installed headers on a 400, but I have installed headers on 351w
and 302. You may want to drop in and visit the engine forum also! The header
for the 73-79 trucks should work. you also may need to jack the motor up.
When you bought/ordered these headers did you give all info.needed like P.S.
A.T. (C6)? You also may want to try a search.
Yes when i bought them i did include all the info...but that truck engine bay from 68 is same as 79? also do you think if i jacked up the motor and slapped some shorties or block huggers on i could fit them?
