i have a 2000 f250 psd 8 inch lift regeared and straight pipe and aux control unit no chip nothing past cpl weeks the idle has been realy bad and dosent go away glow plugs seem to be working starts up fast but will usally idle at about 720 according to my aux control unit and will jump up and down from 718 to 750 back and foward also when its around 1500-2000 rpm it will drop down then pick up when its under load in drive i was thinking its the icp or ebpv or exhaust back pressure sensor or maybe i thought it could be that the wheel on my turbo has a couple chips anyone have any ideas could it have anything to do with oil presure sensor? or pedal assembly since its electric im 20 and pretty mechanicly inclined and have some diesel experience just need some help tahnks in advance NICK
Welcome to FTE Savagesie.
The chipped turbo you mention won't cause the idle surge, but I would definately start saving some money to fix it.
On the idle; when was the last time the oil was changed and what kind was put in?
The Powerstroke engine uses engine oil to drive the injectors and it's very finicky about how clean the oil is and what kind is used.
thanks for the welcome i ordered a wicked wheel for the turbo already and i run delo 400 15/40 ive ha dthe truck almost 4 years and have put around 90 k miles on it i change the oil every 3500 mile along with the fuel filter i was reading and saw something about trying to unplug the icp and i went to do that it had oil on and in it i unplugged it and it seemed to idle fine staying at about 720 so i ordered a new one on ebay and im hopping thats it

From what I can see, this does not sound like the romps. When you have the romps, you know it. Let us know how the ICP works out. Seems that may be the fix since unplugging it smoothed it out. Good luck.
