Question Need help on something

Hey a buddy of mine has a 2000 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 in it. He wanted to know if the CHT sensor (cylinder head temp. sensor) can be changed without removing the intake. I looked at it and it looks like if the alternator was removed it could be changed but dont know if there would be a clearance problem taking it out. Any help would be great, thanks.

I haven't done one but the shop manual calls for removing the intake manifold.

Ok, well I changed it for him and all that needed to come out was the alt. I had to heat one of my 3/4" wrenchs and bend it, but it did work and all is good. Figured this info might help someone else out maybe.
