I am attempting to remove the harmonic balancer off a 1999 E-150 with a 4.2 and of course I do not have the correct removal tool, does anyone know where to get this rather quickly? The reason it needs to be removed is the crankshaft sensor bolts broke off upon removal of the sensor. When I read the manual for removal it is rather plain, REMOVE BALANCER. That's it! I have a problem when wet, code PO300 random misfire, the crank sensor looks like it has a very small crack in it. The van runs grat when at idle, aklthough a major misfire while driving. Your help is appreciated,
Thanks.
The balancer/Crankshaft pulley is different than others. I have other pullers, it has 3 threaded holes for a puller yet no place to put the center rod, I need a tool similar to the one Chrysler uses on the 3.5 engine. Although it will need to have a spot for 3 threaded bolts and a center piece that attaches on then goes into the crank. I really don't know how else to explain it. I looked into some manuals and the crankshaft pulleys I see there are not the same as the one on this vehicle? Has anyone else run into this?
