So now it becomes just another no-torque mall crawler for people under 5foot 5inches tall. Gentlemen, take your hats off and hold them over your hearts while we bow our heads in a moment of silence.
looks are not bad, it grows on you... the idea is to take a small 4 or V6, turbo, elect controls, etc, etc, and have 275 HP, gobs of pickup, get 30 MPG, and still call it a SUV, not a mini van.. They are looking at the masses, not the hand full of guys that want a BIG V8 with lift , tires to go off road.
I understand it, I just don't agree with it. Here in the Rocky Mountains the Explorer and other REAL SUV's are a staple due to the need for low prm torque and good ground clearance on slow, winding, unimproved rural roads. It will be missed.
I actually kind of like it, like steve said, it kind of grows on you. And if it runs better than the POS '02 Explorer my wife drives, then I'd get it. Plus, a 340hp v6? That's more hp than my V10!!!!
I'll save the wheeling for my truck and take that to the mall anyday...
