I was wondering if anyone has ever but a set of underdrive pullys on there truck and if so what kind of gains came from the pulleys...Also how hard is it to install these???Any special tools????
The UD pulleys are easy to do. You dont need a special tool other then an impact for the alt nut. The waterpump pulley is 4 bolts, and so is the crank pulley. I did them on my mustang, but not my truck yet. You might notice a gain, you might not. I did a buch of work with the pulleys so im not sure how it will be with just them. My friend with a 4.6 mustang says he feels more in the upper rpm, but that a way different engine.
underdrive pulleys are good...i have them i felt a difference...pretty sure your gonna need another belt...easy to install....but at idle the charge is less then it would be stock
If you go to ebay and search for ud pulleys for 5.8 you will see them all. Yes you will need a smaller belt and sometimes it can take a few tries to get the right one. It did for my mustang. Once your done installing the pulleys use a peice of string/twine and use that to measure how long your belt should be.
Try March performance. They have all kinds of pulleys including underdrive ones. You also might check Jeffs Bronco Graveyard at broncograveyard.com for the 460 pulleys
