Does anyone know if Ford offered two frame widths for the F350 series? When we installed the bed on our frame we had to install perches for the bed to connect to the frame and had to do some trimming of the bed rails to align the body lines of the bed to the cab.

Heres my 2 cents, the ford F-350 s did come with 2 frame widths. One is 37 inch wide rails and 34 inch with the cab portion width that remains the same. Most likely if your truck came with a fleetside box with a cab to axle of 56 inches it will have the 37 inch rails. On the other hand if your truck came with duals and as a cab and chassis model,it comes with a somewhat universal width of 34 inches and a cab to axle of 60 inches,84 inches etc.Reason? Most of the aftermarket bodies use that dimensions.Such as wrecker bodies, utility boxes, etc. Not to mention the F-450,550s use that dimensions as well as chevy and dodge. JIM

Hello Jim... Thanks for your input. I didn't think we, (my Son & I) were out to lunch on this one. The truck when it was built it was built specifically to carry a broadcasting type sander. The truck was delivered new with no bed and it is a dually. My son really liked it when he looked at it but we were a little skeptical as it only had 11K miles on it and the info said that it wouldn't run. As it turned out the only running problem it had was a dead battery... a new battery and it now runs great. We did have to replace an AC line that had let all the R12 leak out. Couldn't believe it when my wife and I came across 4 full cans of R12 at a garage sale and they only charged $40.00 for all four. Dan, our Son, is now a 'cool' happy camper.
It sounds like I'm off track on the engine paint colour... being a guy out of the 50's & 60's to me a blue block was a Ford
Thanks again for your input.
