changing spark plugs

The Wife Has A 2000 Excursion With The V10,95000 Miles On It.the Last Couple Of Days It Has Been Hard To Start In Mourning And This Mourning The Ses Light Came On.anyway,i Told Her To Take It To Autozone To Have It Scanned And It Said It Was Misfiring On #3,5,6,9 Cylinders.the Guy At Autozone Said It Was Her Spark Plugs And To Change Them.what I'm Trying To Find Out Is,is This What Happens Normally With Bad Plugs Or Does It Sound Like The Coils Are Bad Also.and Another Question, what Is The Average Cost Of The Coils?

blow the holes out good with air before removing them, take your time removing the coil packs, torque the plugs to 20 foot lbs [ book says 14 I think ] use some copper antisieze, retorque after 10,000 miles or so, and put some dow corning #4 grease or dielectric equivalent on the boots before replacing them.I am sure you will get plenty of advice from others in the group.good luck.

U might as well replace the plugs while ur workin on it. But this problem seems like a bad coils.

If ur doing th plugs ur self, becareful when u switch the plugs and torque the plugs down. The early v-10 heads have less threads meaning if u torque them wrong, the plugs will just spit out and ruin ur head.

Always start with the easiest solution first. Coils aren't hard to replace but expensive. Do the plugs, gonna need to do them @ sometime w/ that mileage. Cost about $50, with new boots (shop around). Oh yea, if think #8 on a normal truck is a b***h , your gonna love # 10
