I have a 90 F150 2wheel. I use it for my business so it's driven alot. My front drivers side rotor is getting grooves in it all the time right away even right after I do a brake job, my caliper seems to be okay could that be doing the damage. Also just recently it started acting wierd. When you put it into gear you know it usually moves forward or whatever when you release the brake well it hasn't been doing that lately? I know some about brakes but not alot still learning. If anyone could offer advice I would deaply appreciate it.
I would say sticky caliper for sure, If you are wearing grooves in your rotors after doing a pad job then that would be your issue. Does it pull to one side when braking? that often is a sign as well.
Those calipers are quite easy to rebuild. The O-rings are cheap. It takes more time than anything else. If you have air tools, go for it. If not, replace them as you will never get the piston out of the caliper without air. You can do it by pressing on the brake pedal with the caliper out but you stand the chance of damaging the master cylinder and brake line so don't do it. My local NAPA has reman calipers for about $40.00. Pop them in, bleed the system and you are good to go. Just don't let the master cylinder run dry.
