I have the new instrument bezel for my 1992 F-150 and have it all ready to put on. My problem is that I can't figure out how to remove the light switch ****. The **** is too large to go through the hole. Any help will be appreciated.
It's got a triangle shaped pressure clip that holds the **** on. The objective is to use a tiny screwdriver or pick to open it slightly and let the **** slide off.
When I took the one off on my current truck this last weekend, I didn't make a clean contact with the clip and cracked the pull's shaft, but it slid off the clip. Press it back on firmly, seems just fine, but of course I KNOW it's cracked under there.
pull light switch all the way out
put little screwdriver in the slip
pull the screwdriver tip toward you, putting pressure on the little spring clip that holds onto the metal center.
pull real hard at the same time on the switch. once it's off, you'll see.
Thanks Chris, All the plastic on my truck is so brittle from the Florida sun I though I better find the correct way rather than start horsing around. I appreciate the info.
Nice I need to get the little part that snaps on the end of the shifter. Mine fell off and I used some silicone. But I was playing with it one day in traffic and I pulled it off, now I got to clean out the silicone and stick it back on lol.

Windshield urethane will glue it on forever if you can find some.
As for the light ****, I found out on my 97 F-250 mine had been glued (superglue?) back on by the PO. The only way to get it off was to break it. I got a new one from Ford and it came with the shaft going in to the light switch. But there's no possible way to reach the switch to remove the **** with the shaft like the older trucks, is there? In my case, it was worth buying a new ****. I had to pull the cluster to clean it as I can't stand a dusty cluster in an otherwise clean truck.
