Nothing wrong with the stock turbo, just the outlet flange and downpipe that Ford used.
The rest of the exhaust system is also to small and there is no need for a muffler unless you have to have one to pass inspection.
If you have to have one, get a see through muffler as in you can see straight through it.
The turbo does a good job muffling the exhaust.

The air intake, that little flat garbage over the battery thing also needs to go.

As far as the cross over pipe, the stock one is fine, larger means the exhaust will be moving slower and the increased volume inside the pipe would take more time to pressurize.
That would create a small amount of turbo lag.

Small pipes before the turbo, big ones after the turbo.
Big pipes before the air cleaner.
The best source for air is from behind the grill, not from inside the engine compartment.
If you do install a ram air and live where it snows, you need to unhook it when driving in the snow.
The snow cakes on the air filter choking the engine, if you drive long enough it will stop running or suck the air filter out of the air cleaner.

1994 Power Strokes are one forum up.

The starter bolts are 35 foot pounds for torque.

What intakes are most of you using though ? cold air ? or just aftermarket filters ?

'94 Turbo/'86 F350

My '94 factory turbo is a transplant in an '86 F350. Working on keeping the T-19 which may not be possible with a SMF upgrade!?

86 trucks with the T 19 only had a solid flywheel from the factory.

I had several 7.3 turbo engines in my 86, the swap is no problem at all.

GET A NEW DOWN PIPE! The factory one sucks. Either Banks, or ATS has upgrades. ATS has a turbo housing upgrade too that only works with their downpipe.
Get gauges.
Turn up the fuel
Shorten the wastgate rod
Now have fun!
where can I get the DownPipe?
what kind of difference will the turbo housing be?

Banks, or have one built. PM Dirtydiesel, or send him a visitor message for the part#

Cant get the turbo housing upgrade anymore. You can however bolt in an A3K with a few parts from idiperformance.com

Thanks flainn.

If you can afford some downtime, pull the exhaust elbow off the turbo and send it to Justin at idiperformance.com (member RacinNdrummin on here) and he will mill the end off and weld on a 3" marmon flange. The downpipe is 3" but the outlet at the turbo is still 2.25 or 2.5" so to get maximum potential there, you need to open up the elbow. Of course you can do this later as well, but since youre going to be working on it right there and have the DP out and everything it would sure be easier i would imagine.

Sure thing.

I'm interested in doing that to my 093. Do you know what Justin charges for this service?
