Slotted Wheels

Does anybody currently make slotted 8 lug wheels. (Like the old style slotted wheels) Good old wheels are really hard to find.

are you talking about the spoked wagon wheel style? i think you can buy them at most trailer supply/manufacturing places or i believe Monster Wheels makes them. check out the advertising sections of Petersens 4 wheel & offroad magazine or your other favorite offroad magazine. or check with your local tire shop

Don't think so - which is odd because they'd be huge sellers as vintage sets go for big bucks on ebay. Best looking wheels on a dentside IMO.

Micket Thompson made some a few years ago,,, actually Alcoa made them Mickey T branded them, but they were the old slotted mags style,,, AWESOME, I had a set I bought and put on my 79 F-350 4x, and like a MORON I sold them with the truck. I think about the closest ones are made by American Racing Vintage or something like that... http://www.americanracing.com/browse_vintage.asp

I had a set if 14x7 Shelby dish mags on my Mustang. Decent wheels. A couple of years ago, Hot Rod did an article on the Starsky and Hutch movie, featuring a Torino with those wheels. According to the article, no one makes them anymore, and the producers scrounged the wrecking yards for them.

Unlike a spoked wheel, it's pretty tough to adapt a dish mag to modern offset specs, which are more and more like front wheel drive cars specs.

Yea, that's the design I was talking about. Slotted dish mags, I guess.

Remember the Ansen Sprint? They had an ad showing one after 50 miles w/o a tire. So hey, I googled that and:

OK, that's nice, but I don't see any 8 lug. 6, but no 8.

Oh well......

I agree that they would be huge sellers. I can't believe that with all the wheel designs for 8 lugs, (of which half are just stupid looking) that somebody doesn't make a reproduction of the orignal slotted mags.

American racing just disco'd the 5 x 5.5 of these wheels in 17". I got them for a song from a wheel guy more than happy to unload them.
