I read alot of the posts to my wife, mainly the interesting ones and she "acts" interested. She actually has been bugging me to put a small lift, bigger tires and a grill/brush gaurd on her Sport Trac. My wife understands me, I love my Redneck woman!

And when should I mark this install on my calendar? I think I owe you one or two.

My wife hate when I read something I want ( like everything I read on here). But she always seems to jump on here when a "reply to thread" email shows up and trys to tell me all about it like she knows more then I do.

My wife calls it the "geek site" (she obviously does not READ this stuff). I explain to her the money I save here is why we have new windows in the house.

Not only does my wife hate me on this site but she hates my truck now that I put in the tuner. A few months ago she hopped into my truck and headed down the road. It was her turn to go at a 4-way intersection with a state trooper on the other side of the road. When she hit the throttle she forgot it was a bit more sensitive and made the rear end of the truck come around on her. The state trooper understood though, just shook his head a laughed. Now she won't drive it anymore. It was only on 80 econo.

My wife does not bother me about anything(mainly because I don't listen to her anyway). But she does love my truck but I think that is just because when we go somewhere she wants to use my fuel and not her gas besides she drives a minivan who wants to be seen in that. Oh and my wife does not drive my truck I like the way it looks with no dents and not all scratched up. Not that her van is either but my truck is a tad to big for her.

I'm probably the only wife here that doesn't mind that hubby's on here , when he would talk about all that stuff that we could buy for the truck I had to come and check where he got some of his ideas from and now I'm part of the FTE committee and I love it and I also love my Ford truck and wouldn't trade it for anything

My wife has seen me work hard at trying to control myself in my time on here. She has also seen clearly how it has created an entirely new hobby that I can not only enjoy, but also save a good deal of money with. She has also seen some real life examples of the quality of people I am associated with on this site where we actually work hard to truly help one another openly, and sometimes at our own expense, and virtually always with no strings attached. She is thoroughly impressed with this aspect of FTE.

Regarding the PMS issue, I've posted the below home-grown information a couple of times, but it might be worth posting it again given the OP's quest for encouragement.

Recent report from Mechanical Community Health Training Center at the Henry Ford Clinic:

"PMS (mechanical version) = Performance Mod Syndrome, or also known as Powerstroke Mod Syndrome

PMS: Although this disorder is almost universally restricted to male patients, there are a few known cases of it being diagnosed in females. Regardless of gender, once a patient has been verified to have contracted this insidious form of an auto-immune disorder, it has been proven that there is no cure. In all cases, the contraction of this disorder is universally linked to the possession of a vehicle with a diesel engine (generally a Ford Powerstroke). The root cause of this disorder is suspected to be related to audible engine noise frequencies and/or the aromatic fumes from diesel fuel and engine exhaust. The exact process by which this illness is contracted, though, is not adequately understood and requires more study.

Diagnosing this disorder can be a very difficult thing because of certain similarities with other types of disorders. Therefore, it can only be verified by a rather diligent approach to an old-fashioned methodology called "process of elimination". One alternative medical problem often confused with this PMS disorder is "Ahltzeimer's Disease" due to the comparative similarities in its effect on the patient's memory. For example, you may hear the patient say something like, "I don't remember exactly what that bill to DP Tuners is for. It must be something for my stereo when it was acting up a while back." Or, "I think that Brian's Truck Shop invoice is from accumulated oil changes that they saved up and charged us for all at once." Or even something as bold as, "No, Honey, I don't remember ordering that new set of injectors, but, since they're here I might as well install them."

The only way to sometimes distinguish this form of PMS from Ahltziemer's is with the patient's age at the time when its symptoms are being revealed, since the latter is generally restricted to patients who are over 50 years of age. However, there is an overlap period from about 40 to 65 where it can still be either disorder.

The process of diagnosis, therefore, can be rather drawn out due to the subtle imposition of its effects on the patient. The diagnosis, though, once confirmed, is verified with absolute certainty! Although a cure is not yet known, through the regular encouragements of significant others in the patients life (such as spouse, parent, etc.), the impact of this disorder can generally be controlled to varying degrees. Successfully controlling this disorder's impact, though, varies depending upon the patient's obstinacy and the potential consequences imposed by the patient's "encouragers".

Other symptoms of this disorder, as with many other auto-immune disorders, causes the patient to take otherwise normal information regarding their automobile and re-interpret that information into some twisted reason for further investment (i.e. performance modification, or, "mod"). It almost seems that no one is truly resistant to this disorder once they purchase one of these diesel vehicles (generally a truck), and its long term effects have been known to result in a variety of situations that can have permanent impact on the patient's livelihood, relationships with others, and overall lifestyle.

If it becomes critical or otherwise necessary that this disorder be permenantly controlled, the only treatment found to-date is the most difficult for the patient to survive, since it requires getting rid of the forestated object of their passion (i.e. their diesel truck). Even with this severe form of treatment, residual problems are sustained in the patients mental capacities. Those patients who undergo this method of treatment often end up returning to their prior condition by eventually justifying the re-acquisition of another vehicle similar to the initially infecting possession. In such cases of recurrant purchases, the excuse always given is based on "new and improved design features" that supposedly eliminate the need for any investments for modification."
