i have a 05 f150 supercab and it about time for rotors and pads ...and im tired of killing rotor driving through mountain...any one have input on what good and whats junk when it comes to vented or cross drilled rotor
Found some from NAPA for $115 a piece. Haven't ordered them yet. Don't know what brand they are. But, figure... if there are any problems with them, I can easily find a NAPA in town.
Most all original rotors are vented, in that they have a semi-hollow core with 'air tunnels' all around the circumference. probably what you mean are slotted/drilled rotors. You don't have to pay a ton to get some nice slotted rotors. I bought a pair of nickel-plated slotted rotors for a Cherokee I had and they were very good. The plating prevented rust on the non-contact surfaces. The slots did produce a slight 'growl' from the brakes but the rotors never required resurfacing and provided great cold 'bite' which is what you want. Sometimes regular rotors/pads combinations need to be warm before giving a good braking feel, but not these. The slots provide escape for the hot gases and dust generated by hard/prolonged braking.
