dp tuner mod

I've gone to the guzzles page regarding the dp mod. What part do I buy for this and is it different from other tuners from xtreme diesel per. ect..I'm a little lost on this. I'm hoping to do this mod myself and save a few bucks.

DP-Tuner is one of the best chips you can get for the 7.3L. Check out their website and you can see how many different tunes are available to be added to their chip. You can have up to 16 tunes loaded on a single chip.

Actually, installing the tuner is the easy part. Getting the truck ready for it is harder. You need gauges, intake, and exhaust at a minimum. I'm assuming you have a 7.3 since you were looking at guzzle's page. Driving with Jody's tunes are simply amazing! You'll wonder how you lived without 'em!

Here is a great page covering just about all the mods you can do to the truck:

You can see how the DP gets installed here:

so what is that mod all about? I'm assuming that buying a tuner from dp tuner doesn't involve taking apart the pcm?

Actually you remove the PCM, remove the cover, clean the contacts and attach the chip to it then reinstall it. Takes about 15-20 minutes. Then you run the cable to the switch and you are ready to go. Just follow the directions for install that comes with it. Really easy to do.

It depends. The 400ish on the tuner is DEFINATELY worth it!!! The supporting mods will get you up to about 1200 if you take it on the cheaper side. It is your call, but my truck frickin rocks. My dad, who doesnt really care about a fast truck, cant believe the new power.
As you look at my sig Izzy would beat me up for not putting an intake on the truck. I haven't seen any signs of poor filtering, but I will have an AIS Stage II sometime soon. I will probably get flames for doing that, but I havent seen any problems.
BTW The OBA was a waste of money for me...maybe. I have said that I did do three launches and never threw a code. That is all I did for full throttle launches, a week or two later I put the OBA on. I was making 25 plus psi of boost too!!!

Yea,
I think I'm going for the dp tuner. lots of different options for that chip though. Any Idea which codes? what's an OBA?

The "overboost anihilator" it is basiclly an air compressor regulator that only permits so much air to the MAP sensor. The reason for this mod is bc the truck will start to defuel when the MAP sees over 22 psi of boost. I must have had a forgiving MAP sensor that I didnt really need the mod.
A lot of guys have been making theirs out of air compressor regulators, but you will have 28ish in that plus the ITP kit comes with a bracket to hold the reg and a new hose. When it was all said and done I would have had about 35 in mine and I bought it on DP Tuners Christmas sale for 40 and it is a much "cleaner" looking kit IMHO. Humble...yeah right.
Like I said, I told the wife to budget 1200 for all of it. I could have been 300 cheaper if I did the 6637, but I am holding out until someone makes a cold air box for it or I find a Stage II cheap. TAKE YOUR TIME!!! Some of these guys go out and buy everything in a heartbeat. If you can take your time you will save hundreds of dollars. Watch fleabay, go on there and low ball the obo guys and they will bite. Otherwise, Dennis at ITP is GREAT to work with. I have been really impressed so far.

TUNES, Jody will set you up. I said I pull GN w one or two tractors at 6000 lb a piece for about 50% of the time and use it as a car for the other 50% and those are my tunes below. The 40 Decel is a brand new tune that I cant wait to use when pulling trailer.

Sorry for the post. It got a little wordy. I hope it helped though.

Nah, I wouldn't beat you up. But you could try the 6637 for not much more than the cost of your next stock filter and see if you can tell a difference. I won't go back, but I would consider an AIS if I have to tow with the family in the truck. The open element is really quite loud.

BTW, have a look at the poll going on in the 7.3 forum right now. Interesting...
