I paid $19k for mine 2 yrs ago! when it was 2 1/2 yrs old with 17k miles on it! yeah it`s a V-10, but still that police X is way overpriced. you sure they said $21 and not $12K?

A lot of security companies like to purchase prior police vehicles, perhaps that is why title shows private. Don't ever buy a vehicle that was previously used by a law enforcement department. They are driven hard, broken, and taped up. Just not worth it.

Well, I have looked at 9 since this one and nothing yet. One Wrecked, one drove like crap and one with very obvious water damage. The other just weren't nice or trashed. We are looking at another tomorrow. It is a 2002 7.3 2x4 with captains front and middle and leather. Looks to be immaculate. He is asking 20k and it has 74k miles. I hope this is it. I am sick of looking at these and have been in a car over 24 hours since last Friday looking at them.

I did learn more about the police ride. I called a buddy of mine, he is a swat officer. He said that since the cities took away alot of the cars to use for after hours jobs and downsized thier fleets alot of cops will use their personal one. They put lights on it and use them for offduty stuff. He said most will be used sitting at a construction area on the freeway with the lights going, sitting at a site so nothing gets stolen, Mostly sitting security stuff. I described the set up to him and he said that it was most definatetly not an actual police car. Now he did say, this was what he knew based on the city he worked.

I am done with it and they never called with a lower offer so i am sure they will loose their A$$ on auction with it. I will let you know about the other we are looking at.

Yep the whole time.

Well, I am a new Excursion owner. We found a 2002 with 74,000 miles. Got a bit of discount too from the asking price. It had a small dent on the rear under the tail light but that was it. Has the 7.3l Runs great, All maintence records, Still has the new car smell, Leather is in great condition, Husky liners throughout. Glad the search is over.

Oh yeah, I have the F250 diesel, the Excursion Diesel, and the CJ-10 Jeep with an SD-33 Nissan diesel in it. I am not planning on buying a car for sometime now. I hope this Excursion last me as long as the Suburban it is replacing.

Thumbs down Pass in a big way

This is coming from a cop. Never pay anything from a municiple office in any way. We drive the cars or trucks hard and fast. What you see as 75k on it really is probably about 120k of ware and trashed. I would pass on the truck and try to find one closer. Speaking from experience, the cars take a toll and never run the same. Good luck if you purchase it.

Congrats on the X!!!
You have the f250 so you know the diesel thing is great but the ride in the X will be a little less {{NOISE}}... LOL

We have both but I love the X
We get about 19 MPG in my x and about 15 in the truck so hope you see that diff as well.

FYI I took forever to find mine they would range between 15 and 30K depending on what had been done and condition. I was looking for diesels only. not sure what gas X's go for......

Welcome
Beth
