I'm working on installing a Ford Keyless Entry System on my truck. I can seem to find the horn relay wire or the dome light wire. Does anyone know a good place to find these wires. I also need to find the door lock and door unlock wires. I have not looked for these yet. Any help finding these wires is greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you've got the same truck I do, but 1 year newer. I've got an after market keyless entry system installed. If no one else answers I'll take some photos tomorrow so you can see what mine is spliced into.
Sorry this won't be much help. Looking up behind the dash I only found where 3 wires connect. Without taking things apart I have no idea where the rest go. I've got to go deliver hay in a little bit so I don't have the time to pull the fuse panel and see where the rest of the wires go.
No problems removing it. 4 bolts and it's out. I usually clip a jumper wire to the lower right corner where the bolt is removed to one of the grounds over to the right side since I figure the bolts also act as a grounding plane. I don't know if this is true or not but it doesn't hurt and I feel better about testing new wiring with the fuse panel just laying there.
You will find the door lock/unlock wires passing thru a rubber grommet between the upper and lower door hinges on the frame of the truck. If you pull that grommet back you will see a group of wires, just get a test light and check for a 12 volt pulse when pressing the door lock button to find the correct wire. Those wires pass into the cab and drop down to the bottom of the dash on either side of the vehicle.
Is this a Ford factory k/e system, the "bronze" package? If so , you should have 2 sets of wiring/install directions. 1 is for install of the k/e system, the other is a vehicle specific wiring diagram.
