When a motors stroke is longer than the bore is big, does top end performance suffer badly? Im was thinking about a .030 460 (4.39) with the 4.5" SCAT crank which will displace 547 cubes I believe. Anyway, obviously this thing will rip tree stumps out of the ground, but will it have anything above say 4,000rpm? Is it risky to rev this motor high because of the long connecting rods? Or will it perform well on top with a good cam, heads, intake and carb?

Got one on the stand & one in someone's car. I like the .030 because I have a tapered compressor & you can bore one a few times before you sleeve it. As said before a lot depends on the head selection. The one in a car has A-460's & 2 Dominators & see's 7500 every weekend. I've found no reason to use mine because my BT heads won't support the inches & I out run everything around here(including bikes) already. There's more power to gain by using a better head than a bigger engine.
