It seems like the euro headlights are a popular upgrade. I have been looking at them, and noticed that some of the headlights have a "cone" inside the headlight, while others don't (see pics below). Does anyone know what the purpose of this cone is? And which is better if I plan on using the typical 9007 bulbs?
I definitely agree, I am planning on replacing all six lights. Did you replace your headlights? If so, did you use the ones with the "cones" inside, or without? Does it make a difference?
Yeh i think the only way to go is to get all 6 to match...I'm going to order mine in the next month...But i'm going to wait to but them in till spring comes...
If you are talking about the cover over the bulb, I would recommend getting the ones with the cone. The cone reflector takes the bulbs light energy and reflects it back onto the rear reflector which creates your headlight beam. Without the cone, a good portion of the bulbs energy is just diffused forward without being focused by the rear reflector.
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. Oddly, the site where I got the pictures from above sells the headlights without the cone reflector for $25 more than the ones that have the reflector. Luckily ebay sells both types for the same price.
One other question relating to these headlights, has anyone installed the "smoke" version? Do they reduce the headlight brightness by a noticeable amount?
I just found this post because I was looking to see if anyone else had installed these lights.
Kinda considering them myself.
One thing I wanted to note about the lights with the "cone" vs. the ones without- Notice that the ones without them have the two lines across the lens? These lines are what help focus the beam in those kind of lights. A lot of newer cars with clear headlights have them one of those two ways, I guess it depends on what you want.
Also, on the smoke headlights, it looks to me like they are "smoked" the way most "smoked" factory lights are, they just black out some parts of the reflectors, although it looks like the lenses may be very slightly tinted on those as well.
Does anyone here have personal experience with any of the clear lights (smoked or not)? I'm just wondering if they get all kinds of condensation in them like half the Ebay clear lights I see on other people's vehicles
The lenses are tinted. I have a 2 sets for my mustang. The Euro Smoked, and normal smoked. The normal ones did make headlights dimmer. The Euro Smoked came with a HID kit, so I dont really know. Im getting smoked for my truck caus it just looks good.
I have euro headlights and definitely get the matching corner and turn signal lights. They look so much better. I don't like the clear set posted above though, get the turn signals and corner lights where they are clear too and it is a perfect combination!
