I have a 99 5.4 f250 sd stick shift with a hypertech tuner, flowmaster, k&n fipk, leveling kit, and 35in tires, i dont know what to get for more power that i need badly.
Welcome to the more power club. I have the 5.4 in my 99 Expedition and i think its a joke that Ford put this same engine in the heavier trucks (ie f250).
I think Galaxie mean to say lower hears. I have a 2001 F250 w/ 5.4 and have recognized that I will not pull the heaviest load or be the first one there. When I need that, I will buy a new truck. Later.
I had the 2v 5.4 in my '00 7700, and pulled a 6k boat, 8k dump trailer and a large slide-in camper with it a lot, and never had any power issues. I would suspect the 35" tires are causing the problems. Lower gears would help. I think the 7700 had 4.10s, but I would want something closer to 4.56 in an SD because of the the much higher curb weight.
Gears are gonna be the best way to get back to stock intended power. Im only on 33" MTR's and i can feel how slow the truck is now compared to when i had lighter 33" Pro Comps on the wheels. You might wanna try finding a nice light set of wheels to compliment the gears so you dont have all that rotating mass sucking away at the power.
Lower gears will help for sure. I'm running 38.5's on mine and noticed a big difference with the 4.88 gears. I don't tow any more but really love the lower gears for better acceleration. Yours most likely has 3.73's in it from the factory.
Theres always a supercharger, I would go for a whipple or kenne bell if available for your engine. I know I had a v10 with 4:30's and wished I had 4:56 or preferably 4:88's (I had a 6in. lift with 38's. with 35's I would look at 4:56's personally (and it will be expensive if you cant do it yourself, nearly 1500-2000 for both axles.)
