Internal engine cleaners, .........
like RISLONE (I think I spelled it right), do they work, are they just hype ??
It was a discussion at work, and I just wondered. My F-150, has 145,000+ on it.

use a good detergent oil, change it every 5000 miles. i use 10% alcohol in the gas in Illinois and that keeps the injectors and throttle parts clean... do that and leave the magic cleaners on the shelf at Wal Mart.

When change your oil, put a quart of transmission fluid in there along with your other 5 qtsof oil. Tranny fluid has detergent in it and it's cheaper than Rislone, I run it in my truck every now and then, but don't over do it. Just change your oil on a regular basis and you'll be fine.

The transmission fluid works great, I had some lifters that were sticking on another vehicle and I was told to use the transmission fluid by a mechanic and it worked great. the lifters stopped making noise, I ran that vehicle for 300,000 miles so it doesn't hurt the motor.
