another fuel issue

I have figured out most of my problems but this one is putting me down for the count. I was doing some routine service on the truck and did a dumb move. I had the truck running and opened the water seperator. the truck ran real fast rpm, then stalled. havet been able to get it going again. Did I run it out of fuel by doing this? Do I have to pull the fuel filter off and prime the system again? please help.
thanks vinny

Remove the filter, fill it with fuel.
Loosen an injection line or two and bleed the air out of the system.

You chould be good to go as soon as the air is out.

For next time- Install an electric fuel pump, then when this happens, turn the switch on, push the schrader valve until you have straight fuel, and it should start.

prefilling only the filter did not work. I guess i will have to bleed the injectors a bit should I just pull the hose off of the injector. On my friends cummins he had a schraeder valve on the #1 cylinder. I dont have that correct. help I want to smoke up the hood.thnaks for the help

Don't "pull" the hose off, just take a wrench and loosen some of the injector line nuts about 3/4 of a turn and that should be enough to start it, when it does just take the wench and snug things back up.

Do be careful as you loosen the nut.
Make sure the nut is turning on the line.

If the line is stuck to the nut, you can crimp the line.
Those lines are not cheap.

5/8" wrench fits the nut.

What year is the truck?

86 and earlier trucks the firewall mounted water seperator is famous for not sealing after you drain the seperator.
Then it sucks air in the drain hose.

Stick a bolt in the drain hose if your truck is in that age group.
