Its been a while since i've posted, but Im about to repaint my truck and need some help choosing colors.Tell me what yall think it would look good in.
Thanks
Personally, I like (not too) dark metallic blue w/ light blue trim. That's me. Whatever suits you is best. I'd suggest going to an auto paint supply and look thru some of their color catalogs. What TYPE of paint ? (enamel, laquer, epoxy, etc.) (standard, metallic, pearl, candy) spray can ? OR you can go to WalMart & look @ the paint samples in the house paint to get an idea THEN go to an auto paint supplier to match or enhance your idea. Shopping can be fun OR make grey hair.
I'd do a 2 tone of Blue / Silver. Mine is the same as yours right now of Stock Black. I'm thinking of doing a Yellow Main with a Black strip down the side, in 2 tone.
I went to the galleries and look at other trucks to get a good idea of what paint colors look good. I've settled for a red over gun metal grey for my future paint scheme.
I have been thinking of paint for my truck. I think I am going to do an orange with a black stripe down the side and the black roof/back top half of cab. I do however like a classic red with a white stripe down the side or a medium metalic blue with a white stripe down the side.
As for non two-tone paint schemes, I like a classic red, dark blue, copper, or Tonka Yellow.
mudslinger - Just a goofy thought - for a mud-slinging truck. 6 cans of flat camo paint and head for the nearest mud bog for the "chunk" finish coat. Colors of flat paint needed = black, lime green, dark green, beige, brown, and med.grey. Tape off the windows and else not to be painted, 'injest' a 6-pack , paint till all cans are empty.
Is the interior black too? If it is you can pretty much pick any color. If not you may want to pick something that goes with it. Unless you plan to change the interior too. Mine is Candy apple red with white on the top of the cab from the factory. I definately need new paint but the interior is nice and all red. Instead of changing the interior I am sticking with the same red but changing the cab to black. I also like the two tone black/white or black/silver idea that another poster had. To be honest though, I dont think I have seen one of these that I didnt like in any color. I even like them in 3 colors of primer and rusted through. Good luck
I'd say a 1974 Thunderbird Brown with gold metalflakes and a glass hardener for a long lasting shine. This paint is over 10 years old and truck is always outside. ;-) However, I do live in Kali so that helps keep the rust down some. Plus the color hides rust.
Note the differences on the color depending of the suns angle. At night it looks black:
Or, a Forest Grn with gold metalflakes and a glass hardener something like this color but, with the glass hardener (more shine):
Wow I got quite a few more replies than I expected.Yall have pitched out a few good ideas, and as funny as this might sound I'm really considering the camo idea.
I've looked into two-tone color schemes and they look pretty good.I was thinking of blue and silver, but like redRyder said it wouldn't look good with my currently black interior. That green looked bad --- so I am looking into like a hunter green with black (so I can have a purdey two tone and camo job at the same time)
Nice - Look at the JEEP soft top company "BESTOP" for the Military Camo pattern. It's the best I've seen in my opinion.
I plan on getting their windjammer, bikini top and tonneau in that color / pattern.
Then when I park my Jeep and go off hunting the bush I have to be careful not to mis-place my Jeep. It blends into our Kali forests nicely.
