What have I found need help

I found what looks like a 1950 to 1952 Ford F-7. That's what I was told but the hood says F-2. So here are some of the VIN numbers and other numbers that might help somebody tell me what it realy is, it would be just the right size to pull a two cartrailer around. I work on the 77-79 trucks never had one like this. The man who has the truck said a man came by and droped it off at his shop to get a price for some work on the dumpbed and never came back to pick it up. Than has been about 9 years ago the man at the shop said I could have it if I want it and he would help me get a title for it. So far the man who owns the truck owes about 36,000. in storage fees. Like the shop owner will ever see that. But here are the numbers.
F7J2HM42634--VIN 19,000---GVW 147--WB 128-N-HP @ 3,600-RPM

5-DIR--TRANS 650-904 R-AXLE N color 28KDC389 OR 28KD6389

Anything else I should look for I have no idea about these trucks but hopefully sombody can tell me what I have here and if its worth restoring and how much parts are for this truck? Also has anybody put a diesel engine into one of this trucks? Thanks for you time on this matter Rory

it defintently a f7, the hoods and cabs are the same on all the sizes, but the fenders change, wmjoe stuffed a CAT diesel into his truck, try a search for "big jobs", there are a couple of threads floating about them

What have I found need help?

Rory,
If you do a search on the forum here, there is a vin decoder on here somewhere I used it recently. Thats a big truck. There are a few guys on this board who have put diesels in their effie, they should sound off soon.
Good luck with your beast and post some photos...
Jeff

Rory,

Here's the VIN decoder:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/vin-decoder/index.php

The best thing to do is snap a couple of pictures of the truck and post them here. We all like pictures. We're also just a curious lot and like to see other people's trucks.

The major problem with the really big trucks like the F-7s and 8s is parts availlability. No one makes reproductions parts for them. Many sheet metal parts interchange with other models except for fenders and front sheet metal parts. I have a parts interchange chart on my web site:

www.fatfenderedtrucks.com/partsinterchange.html

Wheels are the hardest items to find. If your wheels are too bad to use it's a real challenge to find replacements. Take a look at this recent post:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ob-wheels.html

As for the mechanical parts, if you can't find the original Ford replacement parts you may get lucky checking with a shop or business that deals with big equipment. Many times you have a part matched to part they have in inventory or they might be able to suggest a place to look.

Post pictures!
