odometer problem

I was wondering if anybody has had this problem? We have a 2002 F-250 XLT and the odometer quit displaying the mileage and now displays all 8's. You can also push the reset for the trip meter and it doesn't change the display as it still shows 8's. I've checked all of the fuses in the cab and was just wondering if there's something sumple to fix this? Thanks

Never heard of this one before.

Just a WAG but maybe a battery disconnect will "reset" it.

try cycling the gauges? hold the button down and turn the key "on" (don't start vehicle) then push the button to cycle thru tests

My 2008 has the message center but this doesn't have the message center to cycle through the gauges since it's a 2002 and it's not a lariat. I'll try unhooking the battery and see what that does. Thanks
