Was getting ready for a camping trip (it's been several months since last one), now it appears I have heater problems. I have full tanks and the furnace come on (for about 10 minute) but doesn't heat. I have dual tanks with a turn **** to selects which tank I want to use, and an indicator float gauge. I'm thinking it's my regulator, anybody have any other ideas. thank john
John These new OPD tanks can be a real PITA. I have converted every fitting that I connect over to the old POL style because of them. The tanks will allow both to be used, and as far as I know all of the concerns are with the tank and not the fitting.
Try removing the fitting from the tank, reconnect them and turn the tank valve on slowly. Just turning the valve on fast can cause the issue that you have. My son called me one day complaining that his new grill would light but not get hot, I had him turn the tank valve off and back on slowly and it worked like it was supposed to.
Look at the exhaust side of the furnace, there is probably a spider or bees clogging it. If that is good then you will have to look at the orifice at the gas line leading into the burner tube, could be a bug nest there also.
Toyman,
Thanks, I'll see what I can see...If this does work then I'm going with door#3...that is saying$##!@@,go to wally world and buying a radiator heater.
I thank all of you for your response.
I always run the stove burners to purge out the air. Furnace should at that point lite when tried.
Also on the new style tanks there is a float operated cutoff valve that prevents overfilling. I have had a propane tank filled by that instead of weight and it was a real pain to get it to allow much gas flow for a bit.

Go back to the old POL and you can eliminate that problem.
How old is the trailer? If you can get to the controls circuit board, see if you have a good solid 12v....Mice and varmits love gnawing things this time of year. Check for broken wires. I see that the fan runs when you call for heat, but if the controller doesn't have that 12v to call for the gas, it shuts off. If your stove burns, you do NOT have a problem with your propane tanks or regulator!
