Hey - I have the Royal Purple 75W-140 gear lube and some LS additive but am not sure what size the the drain plug is. I think 1 inch. Can anyone confirm that. Would I look to by an adapter for my 1\2 breaker bar or would I have to buy a new breaker bar in a 1 inch size?
The vehicle is a 2002 Ford explorer...
Another question. Do I need to use some lock tite blue or RTV sealant on the threads of the plugs when they go back in?
Thanks all!

Yes it's 1 inch....the one on the cover. You can get an adapter at Sears. It's like $25 for a whole kit of adapters, or you can just buy the one. The plug is a tapered fit but it would be a good idea to put some type of thread sealer on it due to it being the lowest point.
use plain old teflon pipe thread tape (the white plastic tape that comes on a roll). $1 at most auto and hardware stores. Make sure you wrap it on the plug the proper direction so that the "tail" of the tape follows the threads. Use two or three wraps around the plug and tighten it up.
Thanks for all of the assistance fellas. The drain plug is 3/4 inch and the fill plug is 3/8 inch. The refill only took about 1.3 quarts of Royal Purple gear lube. Was much easier than I thought it would be. I picked up a pump that screwed onto the gear lube bottles and it worked great. Made filling the diff back up nice and easy. The oil that came out was rust colored and had a tinge of silver to it in spots. Anyway to tell anything from that?
