C6 Cooler line/Exhaust problem

I recently bought a 77 F-150 and I am now going through the fun job of figuring out everything that needs to be fixed. I noticed today that I have 2 problems with my transmission cooler lines:

Problem 1: The lines rest against the collector on the headers posing and obvious temperature problem. My solution would be to wrap the lines in heat shield and/or wrap the headers. Suggestions?

Problem 2: This is the bad one. One of the lines (I didnt look to see if it was the in or out line) is slightly twisted and kinked. Looks like maybe a careless installation of the headers or when the 460 was swapped in. Anyways, I definately want to fix that. Can I fix a section of the line, or does it require a new line entirely? How difficult is the replacement of the line?

There are no leaks in the lines and I dont use the truck for towing. I do drive it almost daily though. I am half tempted to scrap the headers and go back to stock manifolds because of this and the gasket blowout problem I am having. Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

When I replace lines I prefer to use 5/16" steel brake line.
The kind with a steel coil on the exterior.
The coil allows it to be bent without knking and helps ward off holes caused by abrassion.

A 5' length will do one line and the ends are a bolt in.
