Help in Spokane

Hey, is there anyone in Spokane available to help tonight or tomorrow? We stripped a bolt taking off the uppipe for the EGR delete and we can't get it rest of the way off. We tried everything, bought a kit to unstrip it, did not work. Can not get a bit in far enough. I don't have any other method of doing this with my limited tools.

Help anyone?!?! Please!!!

No access to a torch. I have new bolts with the EGR kit. But can't get the old one off. Clarkston is a couple hour drive, don't care to drive that far missing a bolt! haha

Thanks for the help.

Well, never had that problem before. Can you unbolt the whole exhaust manifold and drop it down?

Well... it might come to that, was trying to do it without taking the trubo off or the exhaust manifold. It is the top bolt that connects to the y-pipe.

Since space is limited the best way to remove the up pipes is to roll the turbo out, unbolt the up-pipes from the exhaust manifold and grab the whole assembly out.

Have a friend and some beer?

A bit more detail, please, because I'm not clear on what happened. Stripped out threads? Rounded off the head? Broke the shank and left the threads in?

thnx, jack vines

I read of this happening to someone else recently. If I recall, they got a small cutoff wheel in there and cut the head off the bolt to get it out.

Yeah, the head was rounded off. We can't see the top of the bolt, but suspect the threads are messed up or soomething. We are able to tighten it up, so we just buttoned it back up. Now I am going to do the project when we do the exhaust as the downpipe is in the way.

Thanks Thor for the offer. I sent PM back.

Thanks everyone else for the responses.

Yeah, we debated buying a Dremel, but with the downpipe in the way, thought it would be too difficult. I have a feeling we will be cutting it out after we remove the downpipe.

And I can't wait for my programmer and exhaust! Rode in Shawn056.0's truck, and man, these things can rip. And I also learned how many mods you can do to this things if you want! LOL

Thanks for the help Shawn!

Ugh..... I just hate the fact that that bolt defeated us but it is what it is.

No problem man I was glad to help. Especially if it was just to wipe down some of the back of the engine. Lol.
