well my buddy just traded his 1500 dodge in on a new truck. he wanted a diesel and i kept trying to convince him to go powerstroke but my efforts have failed. he just called and told me he bought a 99 2500 24 valve cummins. at least he got a good looking truck, i dont care for the look of the new ones nor the emmissions crap they have either. he also got a good deal on it. 90k, new trans, new lift pump and new injector pump
Joe better tell him his first mod needs to be a fuel pressure gauge with blinking lights and huge buzzers otherwise next time his lift pump goes out he will be replacing that new injection pump!!!
Tell him not to set anything heavy on the dash, the plastic is brittle and prone to breaking. The plastic trim around the front bumper isn't held on well, and tends to fall off if bumped against something -that is if the sun doesn't rot it off first, which doesn't take long.
When having the front brake pads replaced, be sure to replace the hardware too, the calipers are prone to sticking and causing premature wear. I see that his truck has a new trans, the auto trans is not very durable. We have two of these trucks, and both have had the transmissions replaced multiple times.
i hear the 53 stamped block can be prone to cracking due to the way the water vanes were done making the block too thin... i can't remember where i heard that, but i'm pretty sure thats what it was about. maybe someone will say whether i'm right or wrong on that.
