98 Ranger Electrical Problems

Hello....

I have multiple electrical problems that I think are all related, so I'm going to post them in one thread and we'll see what kind of response I get and if I can keep them streight.

1. The Windshield Wipers do not work if it is wet outside or unless the door agar light is on..
2. The Dome Light stays on most of the time as the result of the door agar light being on most of the time.
3. The speedometer doesn't work unless the windshield wipers work and the door agar light is on.

I think that these are all related somehow. I read somewhere on this forum about the relay for the dor switch. Is it possible that all three systems go through that same relay or are there different relays involved? If different, why does everything start to work at the same time?

Thanks,
ToolMan

First, spray some WD-40 inside the door latches. See: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ome-light.html

Next, check and clean some important ground points. Look underneath the hood on the driver's side fender apron, you will see a ground screw tucked behind the underhood fuse/relay box. There should be another ground screw directly across the engine bay, located on the passenger's fender apron. There are also ground screws inside the cab behind each kick panel.
