Mine has a tube full off RTV sticking out of it evidently for a front mounted dipstick. Apparently not all the covers have this, what one do I need to buy that doesn't have the tube?
The hole is there for front sump pans. Rear sump pans have the tube in the pan. You can either find a cover from a rear sump engine, or do what I did and tap and plug the hole.

i have a rear sump pan, and i have a dip stick coming from the timing cover. i would just say, find one at the junk yard and make notice of what pan is on it then duplicate it on ur truck.

If you guys want a helpful hint. Just go to ford and buy a brand new one. They are not that expensive, they come with a plug to put in the dipstick hole if it's not needed, its a new part so no worries about it being clos to rotting through. OH yea and one more thing, The front timing seal is installed from the outside instead of the inside.
