Well...the proud new owner of my '94 Ranger just left my house.
Thankfully, I found it a good home. The guy who's buying it is going to use it as a drag truck in Royse City, and has a pretty good plan of what he plans to change.
He'll be keeping the 302 and T-5, pretty much stripping the truck bare, and modding the engine to no end.
He already owns a '94 S-10, 350 swap, that's running mid-12's at the track, so he's been there. We spent the majority of the time talking about the various speed modifications we've both done to our trucks over time.
So...goodbye old girl. I hope you enjoy living your life in quarter mile bursts.
First things first, I'm looking for brighter bulbs for the fog lamps. The 38-watters are pitiful...I'd like 100W or so if I can find them.
I have to figure out how to get the amp and sub from the Ranger into the Explorer. I miss having a loud, clear radio. The Explorer has the upgraded sound system, and it's sounding great through my speakers (I already have the Ranger speakers swapped over), but I know it'll sound better through the amp and with the sub.
Past that, I don't know of anything else to change. I put a bug deflector on it lol. I don't think it'll pull off the in-grille/bumper lights of the Ranger.
I thought about getting an exhaust, but I want something quite subtle. The SOHC really sounds good in the mid-upper RPM range, like it's growling, and I'd love to accent that without being loud. The Explorer is SO quiet inside, and it's kind of a nice change. Sort of luxurious.
I might look into programmers, but that's as in-depth as I have the desire to go (at this point anyways).
Suggestions? I think you have got it all covered already.
I wish there were more goodies for my 07 Explorer(that won't kill the warranty). If I go with a better exhaust - I want to keep it quite - my Explorer is super quiet in stock form and it is nice.
I will do tires and wheels when the stock Goodyears wear out.
A place that specializes in the performance upgrades for 1991 and up Explorer V6 and V8 engines as well as 4.0 OHV and OHC Rangers, Sport Tracs and the 4.0 OHC 2005 and newer Mustang. They developed a very nice roots style supercharger kit for the SOHC 4.0 that ads about 75-80hp to the wheels.
