My steering wheel is hosed. Wrapped up in electrical tape, and it's hunt and peck for the horn. So... anybody out there used a grant steering wheel? I am guessing our stock wheel is 15" wide or more, would a 13.5 wheel look goofy in its place? I have power steering, so a smaller diameter wouldnt be hard to turn.
Just curious. I found a foam grant 3 spoke with install kit for about 50 bucks, just trying to figure out if I want it or not.
I installed a Grant 13" wheel, and I think it looks good. I needed to go smaller, because my Lariat seats sit a little talled than the stock bench, so I needed a little more leg room (I don't have a tilt column). I have the factory power assist, and the 13" wheel works fine even with my 39.5" tires. Below is a pic from my Gallery showing my 13" Grant wheel. You can judge for yourself.
Sorry Million, I have a 1974 F-250 Supercab... Oh, and finding supercab specific parts SUUUUUUUUCKS.
I see making a new headliner from scratch in my future. I am thinking of ordering the liner with the speakers in it, and fabricating the back end from the original liner or something. Anybody tried this (I know I should make a seperate post).
***edit***
Wow, flcracker9, that really looks good in there, I was worried the smaller wheel would look crazy.... I couldn't have been more wrong.
I looked for your ad in classifieds - just didnt look hard enough yet.
My truck is a '74 F-250 supercab Yellow and white. Interior is camel-brown and yellow and black (seat cover on front seat is camo, with tons of padded foam under on top of whats left of the original bench).
Inside, I am in need of a front bench seat (right now it's a dual folding bench so folks can get into the back), a dash pad (badly cracked) and a steering wheel. I can't decide if I want to roll on a rhino liner or put carpet in there eventually.
I also need 1 (or 2, if I want the spare) 16" wheels 8x6.5 lug pattern, and some tires - the previous owner had 2 16" wheels and 3 16.5" wheels for the truck.
I call her Old Yeller, and she's rough around the edges, but the 390 runs great, no smoke, brand new dual exhaust flowmasters with side exits behind the tires - older full length headers so it sounds like you are hauling *** when you are only going 20 mph, brakes look good. Just needs some TLC inside. Lots of dents on the outside, but I think it gives her character. No real rust issues amazingly, just a little in the bed right behind the cab. All gauges work, all lights, turn signals work. Interior lights do not work.
