After searching, previous posts, the BW 4405 in my '96 will not move the shift motor when going from 2 wheel to 4 wheel auto. How then can I troubleshoot the transfer case motor to see if that is the problem. I removed the motor and watched while someone engaged the switch. No movement. How do I proceed? Thanks.
From what I understand, the shift motor on the 44.05 is only used when shifting from high range to low range. The "shift" form 2H to 4A occurs strictly electronically in the GEM.
As I understand the '96 system, the first thing I would check if 4A isn't working is the center axle disconnect in the front diff. Make sure it's getting engien vacuum when it should, check the vacuum solenoid that feeds it to make sure it is getting the signal to engage and transferring that to the diff.
