.......with the chip it gets 11 mph with out the chip it gets 18mpg but it is so weak I can't stand to drive it so Im going to hopefuklly fix that today
If you're going off of the overhead MPG reading, don't trust it. It tends to be whacky in the first place, and a chip or programmer will throw it off for sure.
Hand-calculating by your mileage you traveled divided by gallons it took is the only way. I'd be surprised if you're seeing that big of a mileage drop. If your driving habits stay the same between programmer and stock, you may actually see a very slight gain, but with the extra power people tend to be more heavy-footed.
just a dumb question for the original poster. On my truck, I used to have an open-element style air filter. I could always hear the turbo stop when I'd get out of the truck. I later put on an AIS, and no more turbo noise at exit.
Just a thought; wondering if you've changed ur intake at some point.
no I haven't done nothing to the truck yet. chipped an removed the muf an cat.
fuel isn't the real issue. the way it pulls it's self around is. yes i do have a heavy foot. I run the freeways at 85. in town just above the speed limit.
the truck just seems slugish an felt as if it was haven a hard time pulling a load an the mileage was the frosting on the cake. it's time to make it run agin. thows fellas in them chevys.
I realy like my truck an just want to get another 200000 miles out of it.
I'm getting ready to start my 1954 F100 project. every thing seems to run fine except the powerstrock. It runs fair. much better than stock but not like it did. thanks every one
Definitely check and make sure your boots are tight and not leaking. Also look at your up pipes for any soot on them, they attach at the back of the engine, under the turbo ped. You might try a flashlight or drop light to get a good look. Mine are leaking a little and already have black soot on them just below where they connect. There are a couple of different recommendations for the repair. Some folks replace the donuts with new ones from Carquest. I don't remember the part #, but they say these are better because they are a little softer and smash to form a better seal. Others recommend new up pipes that utilize a gasket instead of donuts. You also might check your turbo wheel for any damage to the blades. Just some thoughts. Hope this helps.
Just a thought but possibly the UVc ( under valve cover connector). Mine would run great then the engine light wold come on, then off and would run bad and it did this for a week till I checked this connector. Might be something else to try.
I don't have a milage calculator I do all mine by checking gallons used by the milage and I was checking it on a trip down to my mother in laws house with the cruise set and I was seeing that kind of milage loss. I know its some of the sensors that are messing up the milage but Im fixing them one at a time
