I fully believe you, when i first came to this forum i had read somewhere that they do not exist. They must be very rare.
They are very common up here in Canada. Mostly in gas or propane powered medium series ford trucks. I have personly worked on five or six different trucks. Eric
yeah ol fordzzzz77 hit it on the button the 370 is built on the 429/460 template just it is a industrail motor just like the (don't quote me but) the 330 industrail id the same stanze of the 360/390 or was it the 391??? we have put regular 360 in these trucks don't last as long but pulled better haulling 6-8 ton just couldn't take a lot of booging down. hey to make it run better you can swap the distubutor out with a 460 (get rid of the rev limiters)but if I remember you have to have the distr. shaft and maybe the oil pump out of a 460 also get rid of the factory 4 barrel If I remeber they had goveners not the best on these motors I know a little but I am no expert.....

i managed to track down the egr. but i still need to find the correct idle speed. does someone have the specs for the 429 with an auto. i hate to pay for a smog check again without knowing that my idle speed is within specs...... a little info,it failed at 748. i would guess 600 is accurate but would like to know for sure. thanks

I just noticed that if you look at the top of this forum it lists for engines 370/385/429/460.If there isn't a 385 then maybe that should be changed.A number of years ago I bought a 1970 Mercury Cyclone at an auction for $75 only because I wanted the seats.I thought it had a 429 2 bbl. engine in it but when I took it out it had two bellhousing bolt patterns cast on the back and the c-6 bellhousing was cast at an angle so that it missed one of the top bolts. The motor was obviously from something else, but was that a 370?
most of the ford school buses in the 80s had 370 2v in them. says it right on the side. i was thinking of putting one in my truck if i ever came across one for cheap. the heads are different and have more low end power
