370 4v
370 Motor
The 370 Does exist, I have one in my 1983 F700. To clear things up about the "385" . There is no such beast. The numerals 385 was a series from 1978-1993 for the 370,429, and 460 medium truck motors. These replaced the FE motors of that time. All 3 motors were in the 385 series. Now the years maybe off just a bit. I also have a 1989 F800 with a 429 as well. I hope this clears a few things up.
first x user, just joined, need some help...havea 79 ford bluebird B600 370 2V...bought it in 1990, had it converted to N.G. dual gas. Ran it for acouple of years. It has been sitting for awhile, and I ranout of N.G.outlets here in the Kootenays. Sooo, now I am trying to get it going again on gas. Changed the plugs, they were totally carbed...then when I dumped out the oil, it was full of gas... not sure what to do no w. The engine did not run for too long, just starting and such...could I flush it with a detergent.... help...
not sure if im allowed to reply, with a question he he
4V = 4 venturi's, or 4 barrels, as in a 4 barrel carburetor.
"Multi-valve" engines go waaaayy back, but were only relatively recently adopted in passenger cars in the US.
As multi-valve motors began to be phased in, 4 bbl (and most all other) carburetors began to be phased out.
So if you see "4v" or "2v" or "6v" or "8v" on an older motor, it's the holes in the carb, not the head.
