2005 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat
Taking it back to the shop AGAIN! Everytime I go, it seems to be working fine and dealer states their is nothing they can do. It will blow hot air when set to AC, the steering controls will not control the temp level, although I can adjust it on the dash. In fact the Temp control will cause the fan speed to increase, while hitting fan up causes the fan to decrease (on steering wheel controls). Anybody seen this before. Thanks

I’ve seen the button problem before, it’s either faulty switches or a bad connection. It all works on resistances. Pressing temp up will introduce say a 40 ohm resistance and temp down a 30 ohm… but if you have a bad connection the resistances can go up. So if your bad connection is causing an extra 10 ohm resistance then suddenly pressing temp down will do its 30 +10 and you get temp up instead. As far as the AC I had nightmares for months with mine, all in all it turned out to be a combination of leaks and faulty wiring, luckily my dealer stuck by me even when it was blowing cold air, but not like it should have.
I'm leaning towards the Brain of the HVAC system myself, the button issue is intermittent, just as the blowing hot air is. Some days it works fine, other days it just doesnt work. The Service center actually had it happen to them today (finally) and they think it's the HVAC controller but have to talk to Ford due to my Truck being out of warranty by a few thousand miles although it's documented twice in their records as having the issue before the warranty ran out.
Man, I wish I could use my AC to even see if it works. I just bought my truck last month. Too cold here in New York to try it. I hope I dont have problems with it come Summer time. Is this a issue others are having problems wtih too?
