Install 6637 Question

where do I relocate the grey and black sensor( i think its for intake temp) when I install the filter? the truck came with an airaid quick fit and im not sure if the bottle half is the stock bottom half of the original air intake and thats where it was on the backside (closest to the cab of the truck).

Thanx

If my filterminder you are talkin about the yellow thing that measures airflow, then yes I did that today but tomarrow I plan on drilling the top of the filter and puting it back in.

I would not do that. What for? Your eyes will tell you all you need to know. Drilling a hole in the filter is a potention leak, or a pita sealing job.

I drilled mine used wood boring bit that cuts on the bottom of the drill and also the sides for a smooth finish. As far as leaks I find the hard to believe as hard as it was to get the filter minder back in there, it's sealed a lot better than it was from the factory.

I don't think it's worth the effort. Mine went in the can with the stock box. They were iffy anyway. I just change my 6637 once a year with my fuel filter.

I'm a firm believer in the FilterMinder, and did exactly what That_Guy plans to do, and in the same location. See: http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/filtermind.html

Don't want to start a big controversy here, but my eyes are not good enough to determine when a filter change is necessary, and I kinda' doubt anybody's are.

But to each his own, I guess. I'll do mine my way, and you do it yours. :-))

I just zip tied my sensor and filter minder out of the way. I didn't do guzzles filter minder mod because I change my filter every year whether it looks good or not. I did put one of my wifes old nylons over the filter to keep some of the larger contaminates like bees and such off the filter suface. I'd like to claim that was my own idea, but I read it on here (can't remember who posted it) and it seemed like a good idea.

Just FYI... I put mine on and thought it was good and tight around the filter neck, but because I'm a bit neurotic I checked it about a week later and found that it had backed out some. I pulled it back off and used another idea I read here; I roughed up the surface of the neck and the inside of the hose (not alot, just enough to make some friction) then reinstalled it and tightened it good. I've checked it several times now over the last 6 months and there hasn't been any movement.

what do you think of the differnce in underhood noise with the 6637? My wife say it sounds like Darth Vader is under there I'm working today too, I just got back into the office. Where's Brinklow? I spent some time at Meade years ago.. MD is a beautiful state.
