Yesterday I pulled off one one of my pipes to the intercooler and found oil in it. Is this from blowby? And is there any easy fix? Thanks, Dave
I have been driving trucks for 20+ years. They talk about the vapor smell in the cab, I'm used to it so it does not bother me. The semi engines vent to atmosphere under the hood.
Dave you have a few options. The first is just venting the CCV to the rear of the truck. There is usually very little oil that will come out. In my case the vapor looks more like the tail pipe of a gasser so I built a catch can/filter and routed it back into the intake for now.
Building a filter like Guzzles is a good option I built one a bit different but the place where I got the idea is not working right now or I would link you there.
Here are pics of mine. is just 3 inch PVC with siliconed end caps, 3/4 inch barb fittings and a drain valve with copper pot scrubbers and scotch brite pads in it. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/561437524CWUgMz
Westterntrucker, I know what you mean, The cummins Volvo use in our mixers are way to small (Weight problems) and some leak like mad, mostly out of the blow tube, so I know the smell your talking about. I think there are motor home with biger motors out there., dave
Thanks TJ I'll have to do that when it warms up out side. I know all you guys back east plugging you trucks in and frezzing are laughing when I say its to cold at 40, but what can I say I'm a cali whimp when it comes to being out side when I don't have to. Thanks for the imput
