Well, I had her towed back to the house, just as yet ANOTHER wicked, windy snowstorm started blowing in!! Talk about nervous!! My baby on the back of an F650 rollback and the roads getting slick, visibility of 50 FEET, and winds in the 40+ mph range! The guy was tops and even dropped her in the driveway for me!

Now, to get her scanned & fixed....

Here are a couple of pics showing the nut that holds the IPR solenoid tight. I also sent pics on the other thread - "Truck won't start"

That nut and spacer fell off my ipr last year, and that was a pain. Wouldnt start, no firing , no nothing. Finally looked and the sensor was rotated 90 degrees, turned it back where it should be and she ran.

Just want to expand on this for a minute. I believe the problem was mainly a loose nut. I paid no particular attention to how my solenoid was oriented as long as it was tight.

Just don't want someone looking at theirs thinking the solenoid is misoriented and causing a problem. Just needs to be tight and plugged in.

thats weird, when it was loose, if the sensor connection was straight up, it ran fine, if it rotated about 90 degrees (where i found it) it wouldnt run. It didnt move out so to say, just rotated, weird, go figure....

I have had that happen on several solenoids and never came up with a scientific reason, but if plunger was rotated would work one way but not another

Hmmm, maybe there is something there but there are no instructions anywhere that calls for any particular orientation. How could it? We are at the mercy of the orings on the ipr itself which could end up with the plug on the bottom. How do you overcome that? By rotating the solenoid sleeve to the top and tighten down.

I don't see how this is a problem of any kind. But then again, I am not 100% sure what is going on inside the ipr VB itself aside from a magnetic field causing the valve to either open or close.

I just sent my request to be added to the Emergency Roadside list. Great link and something that would be great here.....Unless I just haven't seen it yet.

Although I did notice to be on the list, you have to be a member of FTE.
