Any CPS failures?

So has anybody had a new (cheaper with B suffix) cam sensor fail? I know its been out a while now so I am interested to see if anybody had one fail yet?

The reason I ask is cause I have. Had the stealer take care of the recall CPS (mine was working fine ) and it last 24 hours. Had to put my spare in to get back to the dealer to get a new one. Then the other day I had a hiccup and a P0344 showed up. So hopefully the second isn't on its way out.

So, do you have to pay for the second one, or is this a revolving door recall?

I think I'll stick with my black ones.

Hmm. I have a new gray and black replacement in the glove box. The original is still in the truck. Not sure I want to give them that one on recall.

I think the big thing is that the dealership replacing the unit may not be using dielectric grease on the plug before connecting it. Any moisture gets in there and it will fry it...even a new one. My neighbor just had his done and had the same problem....he pulled the new one out and it was dry..except for the corrosion in the wiring connector. He replaced it himself with the grease and all is well.

BillyBob brings up a good point.
I've seen many times over the years, the little gasket at the bottom of the plug fall out when you detach the plug. If you don't notice it and then plug it back in without the gasket, you now have some electrical connectors that are exposed to the elements.
It's that brightly colored rubber o-ring that resides at the bottom of the female part of the plug.

I have a few things to check out again! My second sensor is having issues as well. I might have a wiring problem or the Stealer missed the weatherpack. I have broken a few of my own rules with this whole deal. First- never let anyone else work on my truck! Two- don't replace stuff that isn't broke unless its an upgrade.

I will keep you guys posted.

Cps

I'd be real curious as to what the stealer would have to say about this one. One of our trucks just had it replaced (Friday last week) so far so good. I asked them give me the old one back since the truck was running fine with it. Got the old one back w/ my receipt.

I don't know about you - but I'm not quite ready to drive around w/o a "spare" CPS just yet.

I guess I should have asked for mine back. Didn't figure with it being a recall they would be able to give it back. Too late now!

Hmmmm I replaced mine Christmas day...and didn't see anything fall out when I pulled the bad one...But I didn't check for the gasket that stays in the block. I did grease up the new one tho. Well I do have a new one coming and it should be here tomorrow. I refuse to go without a spare also.

Benn running "gray" since about early May when they first came out... somewhere between 12-14,000 miles since then and not a single issue with it.
