Any F650 or F750 Owners

Does anyone own, or use a F650 or F750 for work? If you do, what engine, how many miles, and anything good or bad.
I am looking at buying one for work, but would like some real world info.

Thank Guys!

Out where I work we just recently bought a '96 F800 flatbed...it has a 12V cummins, 5 speed Allison, and something like 56K on it. The guy that drives it told us he got 11 mpg loaded (hauling 12,000 lbs) and 15 mpg empty on the highway which I almost find hard to believe.

Seems to be a good truck though.

We have an F650 dump at work it is a nice truck has the 5.9 cummins in it with a 6 speed we have not had one problem out of it we tow backhoes and other equipment with as well. The only thing about to me is I would have like to seen it have the 7.2 cat in it instead of the 5.9 cummins but I work for the city that is the birth place of cummins.

i use a bunch of them.
the 6.6 Brazilian ford is underpowered, but will work.
the 7.8 Brazilian for is a very good engine, and with a 10 speed trans, or a 2 speed rear, a powerhouse.
the cat 3126 is a good engine, and with a 2 speed rear has good power. with a 5 speed, it is sluggish.
the 5.9 cummins is useless for anything except moving the truck around the job site as an arrow board truck.
put a 2000 gallon etnyre tank and spray bar on it, and it has a top speed of 55 mph and takes forever to get there, using the 2 speed rear splitting it for 10 gears.

the trucks with the 5.9 get moved from job to job on the low boy trailer, cause they will not keep up with road traffic. and the highest mileage on all 6 of the 5.9 trucks is 42,000 miles

We have 1 2004 750 with a 7.2L Cat, 2 2006 650's with 5.9L Cummins, and one new 650 with a 5.9L Cummins. All are 260 h.p. with Allison transmissions. We have had a fair amount of electrical problems with the 2004, the back window will not stay in the 2004, the seats are terrible in all of them (air ride bucket, but there are other seats to choose from). All and all, not my first choice for a medium duty. Not easy to get parts for, either. Since the trucks are built by International, the Ford dealer has to order parts through International some way. Long waits are too common. Dealer doesn't seem to like bothering with them (maybe an issue with our dealer). Tell you what, if you want a REAL Ford medium duty truck (instaed of a Ford/International half-breed) go look at a Sterling 7500 (not the Acterra). Otherwise, I would go with an International 4400 or a GMC Topkick.

Thank You all for the info. I have heard a lot of good things about the 7.8 Isuzu in the GM 6500 and 7500. I am a ford person, but I think I will be looking at other brands in the medium/heavy diesel market.

I don't think you can go wrong with either a 7.8L Isuzu powered Topkick or a Maxforce 7 (DT466E) powered 4400.

F650 4x4 conversion

I am looking at getting an f650 and converting it into a 4x4. Is it possible to put an f550 4x4 front end under it and extend the track width? The suspension on an f550 is 5700lbs and the f650 is 9000lbs which could be beefed up.

You can add springs but you can't increase the capacity of the axle itself. And you may have a wheel bolt pattern mismatch and brakes that aren't big enough. Can't you find a "factory " built one to start with?

If I'm not mistaken, don't all F-250 to F-550 trucks equipped with 4x4 use the same Dana 60 front axles? That said, I would say a definite NO!!!

F-650 Bad Engine Design

Our brand new 2021 Ford F650 is at the dealer getting a complete new motor - Ford says is a bad oil flow design and are replacing it free under warranty. The thing i can figure out is, if Ford knows this is an issue, why dont they issue a recall?

I am about to stuff a CAT C-12 in mine. Replacing the CAT 3126b which is a waste of metal, IMO.
