Unhappy oops.......

ok so i f'd up when i did the shim to to the fuel pressure regulator and broke the threaded nipple part off in the brass nut on the fuel line..........so now it looks like i need to replace both that fuel line and the regulator housing if not the whole fuel filter housing as well, don't know if i can buy the regulator by its self.

So my question now is how do i disconect a quick disconect,? is there anything besides just pulling that one section of hard line out that i need to do, ie remove other parts to have enough space? and if necessary how do i go about romoving the fuel filter housing, really hoping that i don't have to replace that? thanks in advance.

Well, I thought Diesel Innovations carried the replacement FPR housing and almost blurted that out. I checked their site and it is no longer listed??? They still have pics of it in the tech article section. I would give them a call to see if they may still have some. Good luck. At any rate, I would think that you could get a replacement without replacing the whole bowl. From a junkyard at least. Good luck.

i really hope i don't have to replace the whole thing but prob is ive got to have the truck back running by monday. so tonight ive got to get that fuel line out to get a replacement from ford so i can put everything back together by this weekend, don't have time for shipping.

but is there any trick to disconecting the quick disconects on the fuel lines?

The fuel lines on the bowl aren't quick disconnects. They're standard fittings that you use line wrenches on. I suppose they could be "quick disconnects", but they sure would be "not very quick re-connects"...

It uses a standard QD tool available from any part store. The DI facory FP end cap is available here for $10. They could possibly overnight it if you can't get one local. I would spray that fitting with PB blast and use an extractor to get it out. Might need to "manipulate" the line a bit for access.

I still have the lines I got a year ago..I couldn't believe the price.. there welded together so both lines will need to come out....one of my lines are rusted.just hasn't leaked yet.. maybe there is another way of putting a line not using the stock line???
