The easy out is what you'll need to get the broken piece of regulator out of the line...hopefully to save you from having to get a whole new line. Same as a broken bolt extractor.

Examples:

I've used them many times to remove broken pieces. Pretty handy to have, and you should be able to find them anywhere that sells tools. They're by no means a "specialty" tool that would need to be ordered.

sorry my batteries were dead but heres the link 3rd set down you pound it into the piece and then use an open end wrench to twist it right out very easy, but hard to explain in writing. Its the 10pc. screw extractor set. you dont need this set this is just to show you what you need. The set i have is a cheap set from autozone

edit: you beat me to it

u know, come to think of it, i believe that i might have a cou8ple of these in the tool set i picked up from a grarage sell, didn't knkow what they were at the time.

well i guess after i get off work today i will have to try and see if that doesn't do the trick.

ok so i got the disconect set, only 120 bucks so not a big deal, went under the truck to disconect the lines but nothing......the package saes to push the disconect into the slot/opening/whatever u want to call it and then pull the line out........well that didn't work no matter how hard i tried. so then i just un bolted the bracket holding the lines so i would have enough room up top to use the extractor without removing the lines......well that didn't work either. i got enough space to work with everything but the extractor is only biting on the inside of the fuel line and not the piece of the regulator that o need to remove......

so now i honestly dpon't know what to do........

120 for the tool??? i paid like 10 bucks for mine at napa..sounds like you need a bigger extractor...you also may find it will be easer to pull the lines out..i think you need to move the PS pump and alt to get them out..

i meant 10 bucks, sorry. but pull the ps pump and the alt? i thought the gap looked kinda tight to fit everything through....i know it would be easier to get at that piece out of the truck but with it being in the 30's, wind in the 20's and im off in the verry edge of our road base driveway (im really half in the yard) im just not sure i can do all of this.............did i mention that the disconect tools aren't working?

There is a sweet spot on the QD lines that will release them. I know you are in a tight space there, but you kind of have to work the QD tool into that sweet spot that will make it release. THen when you have it apart, you will see the tabs (sweet spots) that I am refering to.

yes you did.. the tool sits on the hard line and slides into the coupling..push it in as far as you can..this will open the clip inside..hold the tool there and pull the 2 lines apart... do you have a bigger extractor ??? try hard enough where it is..you may get it..

Dude, use a bigger extractor and get that piece out. I never saw a need to remove the lines in the first place. If you cannot get an extractor to fit/work, drill it out right to the threads with a bit that will not drill out the threads. The hole in the piece ought to keep the bit centered. Then clean out the remnants. Don't worry too much about perfect threads as the gasket makes the seal so it needn't be that tight. Leave the other end alone. Just more work.

Finally, if you booger it up, just cut the line and get a small length of injection fuel hose, clamps, and a hose barb fitting to get you by. Oh, if you go that route make sure to get yellow tape for the fitting. The other crap dissolves. You did order a new cap right?

I know I am making this sound simpler than it is, but that is what I would do. Good luck.

Do what i did, but use yours as a temporary fix. Disconnect the feed line at the WD on the framerail. Then use 30R9 fuel line that's locally available for about $5 a foot, buy four feet, and run it up to the location you need. Cut off the line where you can access it, what ever you need. Then connect the other side to the other end of the hose. And, double up on the hoseclamps.

yep that was my biggest extractor, im headed up to home depot or lowes to see if they have any that are bigger. Then if that doesn't work i guess i'll try either tenn's or strokin's fix......well on a diff note thanks for all the replies and support on this. If not for yall id probably be payn out the a** having it towed to a mechanic and payn for him to fix it.

oh and no Tenn, i wasn't able to order one today.......i'll just leave it at my p.o.s. phone isn't working anymore, i'll have to get that fixed tomorrow as well as a the new screw i found in my drivers front tire on my 04'.......
