I just installed a Fire and Ice light bar on my truck yesterday. Instead of hardwiring it I just plugged it into my trailer plug since I don't tow anything. Besidese the plug there is a white wire that is just by itself. The instructions say this wire connects to + signal to factory reverse lights. This would make sense because my white reverse lights on the bar don't work right now. Can someone explain where this white wire needs to be connected.
Well it is a 4 prong plug. 1 for ground, 1 for brake lights, 1 for right , and 1 for left. I just need to know how to wire in the white wire into my reverse lights. I am not sure how to determine which one to hard wire it into.
You will have to dig around in the harness going to the tailights, and find a black wire with a pink strip. This is the wire that feeds the reverse lights. If these added lights are small, then you can hook into this wire directly. If these lights are large, then the factory reverse switch may not be able to handle the load very long, so you should run a relay.
