98 Explorer torque converter

98 Explorer torque converter
I was riding home with my son in his explorer and noticed that at 65 mph he was turning about 2250 rpms. I had him turn off the OD and turn it back on. It clearly jumped down to 3rd and back to OD. I didn't watch or listen close enough to notice if the torque converter locked up or not. (I just thought of it today at lunch) What is the avereage RPMs for 65 mph? I'm not sure what rear gear he has. It is a 98 Sport with the 4.0. I'm basing my curiosity off my F250 V10 which only turns about 1950 rpms at that same speed.

You outta get under the truck and check the gear ratio on the rear differential. That seems about right to me, though I've only had this truck a bit.
