So i have had my spare CPS in the glove box for about 6 months now...well at least since Memorial day....More than once, I have thought that all is well and maybe I will just put it in the garage in the toolbox. Well today proved that if I had, I would of been screwed. Just as I am going up the hill to my in-laws, the truck hiccups...and I'm thinking "crap...well wait...it is still running so it should be OK"....As I pull into the driveway, I notice the CEL on...crap...now I have to get it checked tomorrow. But I think we should still make it home later....YEA RIGHT! I go to move the truck..it starts, then dies. Then it starts again...Uh oh....So I pull forward to put the front end into Dad-in-law's garage...and just as I am about to stop..it dies again...only this time...it won't start again....I think it has to be the CPS...so with about 15 min of work, the truck starts fine, the CEL is no longer lit..and all is good. We get home just fine and thank god I didn't take it out of the truck...I can only imagine what it would be like changing that on the side of the road with the fresh 1ft of snow we have and more coming down hard with high winds. I got to change it out in a warm garage and a big peice of carpet to lay on.
THANK YOU FTE!!! Had I not seen the posts about the CPS and gotten one before I drove to Minnesota last spring...I would of been stuck on the side of the road....replacing it if not at least stuck getting it towed.

Sounds like your truck was just trying to give you the perfect excuse for an early exit from the in-laws.
Glad you were able to get it fixed without laying on the side of the road.
LOL I would guess that for alot of people that would be the case...But my in-laws are great. I think it was trying to tell me that with the bad weather and all the now....I needed to get off my a$$ and change it before I got stuck trying to pull someone else out of the ditch.
