Well its not a Ford Diesel but Ford owns Volvo!! This is my dad new tow rig for his 36 foot 5'er. This tractor replaces a '03 7.3 PSD. Its a 1997 Volvo with a 450 HP Detriot Diesel. My parents are selling their house and business and becoming missionaries to an orphanage down in Mexico. This truck will be hauling their home back and forth from Michigan to Mexico.
Its got 900,000 miles on it and has needed a ton of work including a new paint job (started life purple, then was painted lime green and is now a much nice shade of blue and gray!). When my dad gets back from Mexico in March he will be building a toter bed for it to fit all his tools and give the truck more storage.
Well here it is (pics are off my cellphone so not that great)
Before (with new hood)
Tell him to stop at the Flying J in Davenport Ia and say hello to the fuel delivery guy(day shift),I would enjoy meeting him if ever this way.Great looking truck as you know TJ I like them Volvos great trucks to drive..Best of wishes to your folks on there new calling.
Volvos are nice, but those things are a pain in the butt to work on. I am not crazy about the electrical layour of it. Its overly complicated to other makes.
On a side note, thats a strange change in a walk of life. I wish them the best, and have him brick back a few of my tankers full of diesel from down thee, I hear its a LOT cheaper.
its not cheap in belize! i went there a year ago on a mission trip and it was 2x our price! my bro works at a place with 750+ volvos, KW's, and freight liners, and a few IH's. he said for a fleet, he'd rather have t-600 KW's, if he was buysing for long haul. but, that for working on, he'd rather work on a volvo. he says mechanically they're easy. IDK a thin about semis
